The RFK International House of Human Rights is located within the former Murate complex, in the center of Florence, between the central districts of Santa Croce and Sant'Ambrogio.
At the end of the 1990s, the famous architect Renzo Piano provided the guidelines to transform "Le Murate" into a cultural and recreational space to host NGOs, start-ups, public housing, shops, restaurants, bars, and conference rooms for the community.
The ambitious project, carried out by the Municipality of Florence, was completed with the inauguration in 2004 and the return to the city of a space of great value.
The RFK International House consists of two multipurpose rooms on the ground floor, a guesthouse with 12 rooms converted from the former prison cells, the offices of RFK Human Rights Italia, and a series of common areas such as a library, a living room, a kitchen, and a large loggia.
The rooms are structured into three areas: a sleeping area with a single bed, a living area with a sofa bed to accommodate a second guest, and a private bathroom with a shower.
